Drum & Bass music is a global phenomenon, crossing genres, boundaries and connecting cultures.

It sells out arenas and plays to intimate venues, it features in the popular music charts and sits comfortably within the underground.

Across the globe, Drum & Bass is heard and its leading artists, DJ’s and labels are heard…but all too often, one of the crucial urban centres that has supported its rise and been a home to some of its key figures has been overlooked.

This project has been set up to celebrate, explore, preserve and share the part Birmingham has played in shaping DnB, for its role in bringing it to the masses and for the sub cultures and communities it continues to have thriving within its boundaries.

Brum & Bass is a passion project run by Matt Ford from Pretty Hate Productions and Courtney Holder from Muzik Hertz and is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. We want to hear from YOU. YOUR memories, YOUR stories, YOUR flyers, photos, favourite Birmingham artists and venues. We want YOU to help shape a unique and one-off exhibition of materials and memorabilia to be displayed alongside a feature length documentary some time in 2025.
